Job Summary

The Safety Engineer supports the development and implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) practices across Alghanim business locations. This role assists in ensuring compliance with governmental regulations and internal policies, supporting risk assessments, inspections, and awareness programs to maintain a safe workplace.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating safety inspections and support corrective actions as required.
  • Support documentation processes for ministry-related credentials, licenses, and certificates.
  • Participate in reviewing policies and procedures and highlight potential improvements.
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments and contribute to the implementation of control measures.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with HSE standards and report any deviations.
  • Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, helping to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Contribute to compiling accident, injury, and near miss statistics for reporting.
  • Assist in coordinating fire licensing applications with the Kuwait Fire Department (KFD).
  • Provide basic HSE advice and support to business units.
  • Assist in planning fire drills and recording results for continuous improvement.
  • Support in delivering awareness sessions and trainings on fire safety and first aid.
  • Help organize monthly E.H.S. meetings and ensure proper documentation of actions and outcomes.
  • Participate in safety audits and collaborate with management to address identified gaps.

Candidate Requirements

  • Fresh graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
  • Up to 1 year of experience in HSE or safety-related roles (advantageous but not mandatory).
  • Recognized safety certification such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or IOSH (advantageous but not mandatory).
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Good communication skills in English – verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • A collaborative team player with a willingness to learn and apply HSE practices.
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills.
