Job Summary

Head cashier leads and manages smooth, efficient and accurate payment handling procedures for customers. The job roles include providing cashiers with sufficient cash float and other supplies, ensuring cashiers are following company’s policy & procedures in counting cash money, and in handling credit/debit card payments. In addition to promoting the sales of gift cards, Telly cards and warranty programs when necessary at the POS terminal. The Head cashier is also responsible for preparing reconciliation reports, reporting discrepancies’ and taking disciplinary actions towards misconducts.

Job Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Ensures cashiers always smile and greet customers
  • Ensures cashiers always presentable, pleasant and friendly
  • Identifies & fulfils customer needs
  • Ensures all customers are treated equally with respect
  • Ensures cashiers are packing customers’ purchases at POS terminal /guiding customer to delivery area
  • Accountable for providing customers with accurate information at POS terminal
  • Ensures customer’s info. updated and offers forwarding invoices via email
  • Ensures cashiers explain return & exchange policy to customers

Sales

  • Ensures all cashiers:
  • Obtain excellent and updated knowledge of all products & services
  • Aware of all in-store promotions; discounts, credit, coupons and etc…
  • Promote gift cards with focus on customer benefits
  • Promote warranty programs highlighting its benefits to customers (if applicable) Promote
  • Telly cards explaining features, options and benefits

Operations

  • Ensures availability of sufficient levels of bags, printers’ paper rolls and all other necessary supplies
  • Maintains sound equipment functional at POS and reporting any errors.
  • Provides training, coaching and mentoring for existing and new joining cashiers
  • Ensures POS terminal areas are presentable, clean and tidy 
  • Prepares payment vouchers, receipts, deposit slips, and related documents with keeping records of cash and credit transactions
  • Performs general cashiering duties such as scanning items, collecting payments, verifying payments and etc…
  • Balances cashiers at the end of the shift, makes adjustments as needed, and prepares the bank deposit for pick up the next day

And ensures all cashiers:

  • Expedite customer payments effectively in an efficient manner
  • Apply all POS procedures as instructed by store management.
  • Maintain cash desk / packing area always clean and tidy
  • Follow organizational rules and regulations / Policy & Procedures
  • Follow company’s safety and security procedures
  • Handle cash/credit payments and accurately counts customers’ money
  • Count and balance cash, credit slips, vouchers and coupons with total sales transactions at the end of the shift
  • Master computer applications in finalizing customers’ payments

Candidate Requirements

  • Overall 2+ years of experience
  • Strong English and Arabic language capabilities
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Have eye for details & Good Analytical Skill

Education

Bachelor’s Degree
